The hosts levelled from the penalty spot before the break after Adam Armstrong’s initial effort was saved but converted from the rebound.
Southampton United then stunned the visitors after halftime, with Mateus Fernandes finishing off a slick counter-attack, only for Mohamed Salah to restore parity in the 65th minute and later seal victory from the spot late on for Liverpool.
