Oluwakemi Adegbuyi has been named the Most Valuable Player of the 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup following her outstanding performances for Nigeria’s Flamingos.
Adegbuyi played a key role in Nigeria’s successful campaign, scoring four goals and providing several assists as the Flamingos recorded five wins from five matches to claim the title.
The latest award adds to an impressive year for the player, who has now collected three major individual honours.

- 2026 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers Player of the Tournament
- 2025/26 NWFL Premiership Player of the Season
Nigeria also celebrated another individual accolade as Flamingos goalkeeper Onyinyechi Opara was named Best Goalkeeper of the 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup.

Opara finished the tournament with four clean sheets in five matches, playing a crucial role in Nigeria’s dominant run to the title.

Speaking after Nigeria’s triumph, Flamingos captain Harmony Chidi delivered a strong message to young footballers, particularly on the importance of safeguarding in the sport.

Chidi said.
The captain urged players to speak out if they become victims or witnesses of unacceptable situations, stressing that silence can put football at risk.
Nigeria completed the tournament with a flawless record, winning all five matches, collecting 15 points and finishing with a goal difference of +15 without dropping a single point.
