Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins believes Nigeria still have what it takes to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their disappointing start to the qualifying campaign.
According to information available to Softfootball, the ex-international remains optimistic that the current squad can recover valuable points and book a place at next year’s global tournament.
Martins urged the players to remain focused and approach the remaining qualifiers with confidence and determination; as he said:
I believe the Super Eagles have the quality to qualify for the World Cup. They just need to stay united, work hard and win the remaining matches.
Nigeria have endured a frustrating start in the qualifiers, leaving themselves with plenty of work to do in the race for an automatic qualification spot.
However, Martins is convinced the team possesses enough talent and experience to reverse the situation.
The former Inter Milan forward called on supporters to continue backing the national team, insisting their encouragement could make a significant difference during the decisive stages of the campaign.
