Softfootball understands that Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Sporting CP for the signing of Ousmane Diomande in a deal worth €40 million fixed.
The Ivorian centre-back is expected to fly to England today to undergo his medical before completing the remaining formalities of the transfer.
The agreement marks a major defensive reinforcement for Nottingham Forest as the Premier League club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season. The latest development follows earlier exclusive report revealing that negotiations between Forest and Sporting had restarted as the clubs worked toward finding an agreement.
Diomande’s move comes despite the defender signing a fresh contract with Sporting CP, committing his future to the Portuguese club for another three years. However, Forest’s willingness to meet Sporting’s valuation has now opened the door for the 22-year-old to make the switch to England.
Once his medical is successfully completed, Diomande will finalize his contract and become one of Nottingham Forest’s most significant defensive additions of the summer.
