Barcelona midfielder Gavi has opened up about dealing with criticism and the pressure surrounding his performances, insisting that he remains focused on the people who matter most to him in football, Softfootball reports.
The Spain international explained that criticism from outside does not have a major effect on him, as he places greater importance on the opinions of his teammates, coaches and supporters.

Gavi has faced increased scrutiny after returning from a difficult period affected by knee problems. He started Barcelona’s opening LaLiga game against Elche but was withdrawn at half-time after taking a knock to his knee. He subsequently missed several matches before gradually returning to action.
The 22-year-old has also had to fight for minutes in a highly competitive Barcelona midfield, with Hansi Flick having several options including Rodri, Pedri, Fermín López and Dani Olmo. Flick has nevertheless stressed that Gavi remains an important player for the team.
Softfootball understands that Gavi particularly appreciates the support he has received from Flick during his return. The German coach has maintained communication with the midfielder and encouraged him to remain patient and continue working hard in training.
Flick was also seen speaking privately with Gavi during training earlier this month, with reports describing the interaction as an effort to encourage the midfielder during a difficult period.
Gavi’s return has therefore been about more than simply getting back onto the pitch. After dealing with injuries and criticism, the Barcelona academy graduate is now focused on regaining his rhythm and competing for a regular place in Flick’s side.
With Barcelona enjoying an excellent start to the campaign, Gavi will hope to play a bigger role as the season progresses and continue rebuilding his confidence after his injury setbacks.
