Nottingham Forest have officially announced that Neco Williams has signed a new long-term contract that will keep the versatile full-back at the City Ground until 2030.
Softfootball understands that the 25-year-old had only recently extended his previous contract in the summer of 2025, with that agreement due to run until 2029. However, Forest have moved quickly to reward his outstanding performances with an even more substantial commitment.
The decision reflects the club’s determination to retain their key players as they continue to build a competitive team capable of maintaining their upward trajectory in the Premier League.
Williams enjoyed a remarkable 2025/26 campaign, establishing himself as an increasingly important figure for the Tricky Trees. His consistency, versatility and tireless work rate on the flanks earned widespread praise from supporters, with the defender eventually being named Nottingham Forest’s Fans’ Player of the Season.
Forest’s decision to extend his contract is therefore both a reward for his individual performances and a statement of intent from the club.

Williams originally joined Nottingham Forest from Liverpool in July 2022 in a deal worth approximately £17 million.
Since making the move from Merseyside to the Midlands, the Wales international has developed into one of the club’s most consistent performers and has established himself as a dependable option across the full-back positions.
His progression has been reflected in his impressive appearance record. Williams has now made 163 appearances for Forest, contributing four goals and 10 assists during his time at the City Ground.
The defender featured 53 times in all competitions last season and has continued to play an important role at the beginning of the current campaign, starting both of Forest’s opening Premier League fixtures.
His new contract also comes at an important moment for the club as Forest look to build on their progress and establish greater stability in the Premier League.
The Tricky Trees have endured a difficult start to the 2026/27 campaign but claimed their first point of the season last weekend with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
Forest twice took the lead through Dan Ndoye and Morgan Gibbs-White, only to be pegged back by goals from Alexander Isak and Victor Muñoz.
That result followed defeats against Leeds United in both the Premier League and EFL Cup, leaving Oliver Glasner still searching for his first competitive victory as Forest manager.
