Liverpool were forced to settle for a point at Anfield after twice coming from behind to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest in an entertaining Premier League encounter, Softfootball reports.
Nottingham Forest made the stronger start and deservedly took the lead through Dan Ndoye, who ended a 377-day Premier League goal drought. Liverpool struggled to cope with Forest’s direct approach, while Matz Sels’ long ball played a key role in the opener.
The visitors could have extended their advantage before the break, but Alisson produced a superb save to deny Igor Jesus, pushing his effort onto the crossbar.
Liverpool improved after the interval and eventually found an equaliser through Alexander Isak, who tapped home from Cody Gakpo’s low cross. However, Forest regained the lead 12 minutes later when Morgan Gibbs-White converted a disputed penalty.
With Liverpool facing defeat, summer signing Victor Munoz stepped up to rescue the hosts. After moving to the right flank following Gakpo’s substitution, Munoz unleashed a powerful effort that took a deflection before finding the net.
The draw means Liverpool remain without a league victory, while Forest also continue their search for a first win. Iraola’s side will take encouragement from their performance, but both managers will know there is plenty to improve.
