Nico Williams Injury Sparks Major Spain World Cup Concern

Nico Williams has been substituted with a new injury just 32 days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Athletic Club winger was forced off in the 36th minute after picking up the injury and was replaced by his brother Iñaki Williams.

At the moment, the exact seriousness of the injury has not yet been confirmed, but there are growing fears he could miss the beginning part of the World Cup depending on the medical results.

The injury has now become a major concern for both Athletic Club and the Spain national football team considering Nico’s importance to the squad.

Despite the change, Athletic Club went on to lose 1-0 against Valencia. The defeat leaves Athletic Club in 9th position with 44 points after playing 35 matches.
