Girona coach Michel believes his side have what it takes to spring a surprise against Liverpool in Tuesday’s Champions League fixture, promising an aggressive approach from his players.
Speaking to TribalFootball ahead of the clash, Michel outlined the mentality he expects his team to bring against one of Europe’s form sides.
Softfootball understands the Spanish coach is targeting a performance built around intensity and quick ball recovery rather than sitting back.
He said:
We want to see an aggressive Girona team with and without the ball. They dominate the game. I prefer to have the mentality of recovering the ball as quickly as possible.
Michel also acknowledged the scale of the challenge ahead, given Liverpool’s quality across every phase of play. He added:
They dominate all the concepts of the game, attack, defence and transition, they are very good. But if we give our best version I am calm.
The Girona boss closed by describing the fixture as a historic occasion for the club, regardless of the eventual outcome.
