Michael Carrick has reacted to Manchester United’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest, a result that secured a third-place Premier League finish for the Red Devils.
As earlier reported by Softfootball, before the match Carrick had already praised Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson for his performances this season, highlighting the impact he has made for Nottingham Forest.

Speaking in his post-match press conference as shared on the club’s YouTube channel, Carrick described the afternoon as a positive way to conclude the campaign. When asked about emotional moments involving several players after the final whistle, the interim manager admitted it was important to end the season strongly.

Carrick explained that the team was fully focused on finishing on a high and expressed gratitude for the manner of the victory. He added that ending the season with a win made it a good day for sure. In his comments, he also expressed hope for big moments and big goals next season:
It was a good day, yeah. I think we’re really conscious of trying to finish on a bit of a high, you know. I think we’ve made some really good strategies as a group, as a team and as a club. It’s easy to get to the stage and I have been part of it myself and that extra spark it’s not there but I think to finish like we did for so many reasons was a good day for us for sure.
Questions about Carrick’s future at Old Trafford also dominated the press conference following his impressive run as interim coach. Responding carefully, Carrick stated that clarity regarding his future would arrive in the coming days, while emphasizing that he remains a strong supporter of the club regardless of the outcome.
He responded:
I am a surporter as well, so regardless of anything, I want it to be a lot of good moments here. I think it’s been pretty clear and from what I said a couple of days ago to you, I think it’s the same you know this over the coming days there will be clarity on the situation. Whatever the news is going to be, I think you will get it in a few days.
When asked what Manchester United must improve beyond signing new players, Carrick stressed the importance of evolving the current squad, improving collectively, and continuing to push forward.
He highlighted that success comes through intelligence, gradual development, and having quality players rather than relying on “magic ingredients.”
