Newcastle United have made it clear to Lewis Hall and his representatives that the club have no intention of selling the England international this summer.
Softfootball previously reported that Manchester United were stepping up their pursuit of Hall and preparing an opening official offer for the left-back.
Manchester United have been monitoring Hall for several weeks and view the 21-year-old as an ideal long-term successor to Luke Shaw. However, Newcastle consider Hall a key player and are determined to keep him at St James’ Park.
Lewis Hall is open to leaving Newcastle United should the right opportunity arise, although the Magpies are expected to demand a significant fee for one of their brightest young defenders.
Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle is also understood to regard Hall as an important part of his plans, further strengthening the club’s stance that the defender is not available for transfer.
The Red Devils had identified Hall as their priority target to strengthen the left side of their defence, but Newcastle’s firm position could make any potential deal extremely difficult to complete this summer.
