Softfootball has gathered that Manchester City held initial discussions over a potential move for 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi as the club continues monitoring elite young midfield prospects for the future.
The Lille OSC midfielder has attracted growing attention with his performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he has impressed with his composure, technical ability, and maturity beyond his age. City are reportedly exploring a long-term strategy that could see Bouaddi remain at Lille until the 2027/28 season before making a full transition.
Born in France to Moroccan parents, Bouaddi switched his international allegiance to Morocco national football team in 2026 and has continued developing into one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders. Despite his age, he has already made more than 70 senior appearances for Lille after making his breakthrough at an early stage.

The versatile box-to-box midfielder is admired for his ability to influence both defensive and attacking phases, combining energy, passing range, and tactical intelligence.
Four clubs are currently monitoring the teenager, while Paris Saint-Germain FC are focusing on alternative targets. City’s interest reflects their continued commitment to securing emerging talents early, following a similar approach with young players such as Elliot Anderson.
