City looked on course for all three points before Brighton mounted a late comeback through two second-half substitutes.
Joao Pedro equalised in the 78th minute after City’s defence failed to clear the danger inside the penalty area.
Just five minutes later, Matthew O’Riley completed the turnaround by racing onto Pedro’s perfectly weighted through ball before calmly slotting past the goalkeeper.
The victory moves Brighton up to fourth place in the Premier League standings with 19 points, while Manchester City continue to endure their worst spell under Guardiola as pressure begins to mount on the defending champions.
