Manchester City have reached an agreement with RC Lens over the signing of Uzbekistan international Abdukodir Khusanov, following a breakout start to the season for the young centre-back.

The 20 year old has attracted interest from several major clubs, including Real Madrid and Newcastle United, but City appear to have won the race for his signature.

Softfootball understands Lens handed a mandate to agent Jorge Mendes to find a suitable destination for their prospect after just a few months as a regular starter in Ligue 1.

According to reports from Foot Mercato, City have seen a €50million offer accepted, bonuses included, with Abdukodir Khusanov himself said to be fully convinced by the move to the reigning Premier League champions.

Barring a last-minute twist or an outbidding effort from a rival club, the deal is expected to be finalised within hours, giving Pep Guardiola fresh defensive reinforcement.
