Liverpool booked their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after beating Tottenham 3-1 at Anfield on Tuesday night. Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai were on target for the Reds, while Conor Gallagher pulled one back for Spurs.
Softfootball reports that Liverpool made several changes following their goalless Premier League draw with Fulham, but Andoni Iraola’s side still had enough quality to overcome Tottenham and progress.

Mac Allister opened the scoring in the 21st minute, reacting quickest to a rebound before producing an excellent finish into the top corner. Liverpool carried their advantage into half-time despite Tottenham creating opportunities through Lucas Bergvall and Mohammed Kudus.
Gakpo doubled the lead nine minutes after the restart. Mac Allister played an important role in the build-up before the Dutch forward finished clinically to make it 2-0.
Tottenham finally found the net in the 69th minute when Gallagher rose highest from a corner to head past Giorgi Mamardashvili. The goal gave Spurs hope of completing a comeback, but Liverpool remained dangerous on the counter.
Szoboszlai, introduced from the bench, ultimately settled the contest in spectacular fashion. The Hungary international produced a superb long-range volley in the 91st minute, sending the ball into the top corner to make it 3-1.
Liverpool’s victory also came with strong individual performances, particularly from Mac Allister, who was rated 8.8, while Gakpo received 7.9 and Szoboszlai 7.6.
