Ghana and West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus has been nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award 2024, joining a shortlist that also features Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu among its African representatives.
Softfootball gathered that FIFA announced the 11-man list on Friday, with Kudus recognized for his spectacular strike against Freiburg during last season’s Europa League campaign with former club Ajax.
Onuachu also features on the list for his goal against Konyaspor while on loan at Trabzonspor, alongside other nominees including Algeria’s Yassine Benzia and Denis Omedi.
Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Inter Milan full-back Federico Dimarco round out a competitive field for the prestigious individual award.
Beyond the Puskas nomination, Nigeria’s presence at this year’s awards extends further, with Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong both in contention for a spot in the FIFA Best 11, while Asisat Oshoala has been shortlisted for the FIFA Marta Award.
The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony is set to take place in January 2025, bringing together nominees from across the footballing world.
