Hansi Flick has made it clear that Barcelona are setting their sights on the biggest prize in European football, while also targeting an historic third consecutive LaLiga title.
Speaking ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League campaign, Flick said:
“This year we want to win the Champions League, it is our goal.”
He also stressed that domestic success remains a major priority for the Catalan giants.
“But it is also important to win LaLiga. Winning it three times in a row would be incredible,”
Flick added.
The German coach has already guided Barcelona to back-to-back LaLiga titles and believes his current squad has the quality and depth to compete for the Champions League. Barça started their European campaign strongly with a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord, reinforcing the optimism surrounding Flick’s side.
Softfootball understands that Flick’s ambitions extend beyond team trophies, with the Barcelona boss also backing his players in the race for individual honours.
Flick has named Lamine Yamal and several other Barcelona stars as genuine Ballon d’Or contenders, with the German particularly impressed by Yamal’s development and influence. After the Feyenoord victory, Flick went further by saying the young Spanish winger deserves the prestigious individual award.
Yamal is already emerging as one of the central figures in Barcelona’s Champions League ambitions, while players such as Raphinha and Pedri remain crucial to Flick’s plans.
With Barcelona chasing a third straight league crown and determined to end their long wait for another Champions League triumph, Flick knows the pressure will be immense.
For the Barcelona boss, however, the objective is simple: win the Champions League, dominate LaLiga again, and give his stars the platform to challenge for the Ballon d’Or.
