Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has warned that Alexander Isak is more likely to join Liverpool than the Gunners if a transfer battle erupts this summer.
Softfootball gathered that Wright sees the Reds’ current dominance as a major pull for the Newcastle forward. Speaking on The Overlap, he expressed concern that Liverpool’s position at the top of the table gives them the edge in attracting such high-profile talent.
Isak has been one of the Premier League’s most lethal finishers this season, scoring 19 goals in 24 league games. Only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland have netted more in the top flight. The 25-year-old has added two more in other competitions, bringing his total to 21.
Wright admitted he would pay £120 million for Isak without hesitation and urged Arsenal to pursue him aggressively. However, he fears the player’s preference could lean toward Anfield.
I’d hate to see the scenario where it’s Liverpool or Arsenal. He would probably go to Liverpool.
The former England international pointed to Arne Slot’s successful start at Liverpool as a major draw. Suggesting the manager’s system is already working well, he noted:

While Wright believes Mikel Arteta could convince Isak to choose North London, he acknowledged that Arsenal must work harder to make their pitch compelling against a rival currently dominating the title race.
