Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has warned his players against taking Plymouth Argyle lightly ahead of their Emirates FA Cup fifth-round clash.

Despite Plymouth battling relegation in the Championship, Guardiola believes their shock victory over Premier League leaders Liverpool proves they are capable of causing another major upset.

The City boss stressed that cup competitions often produce surprises, especially when top-flight clubs fail to match the hunger and intensity of lower-league opponents. Softfootball gathered that Guardiola wants his side fully focused as they chase a place in the quarter-finals. Guardiola said

They are always tricky. If you are not ready, you are in trouble.” He added that Manchester City are determined to keep their FA Cup hopes alive after falling out of the Premier League title race and the UEFA Champions League.

Guardiola also addressed the future of several experienced members of his squad, insisting he still counts on them for next season.

While Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term future remains uncertain, the Spaniard expressed confidence that senior figures such as Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva will continue playing key roles.

With the FA Cup now City’s clearest route to silverware, Guardiola expects another professional performance from his players against determined opposition.
