Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have reportedly expressed frustration over the non-payment of their bonuses and allowances as they continue their campaign at the WAFU B U-20 Championship.
The defending champions secured a place in the tournament’s final after an impressive 3-1 victory over Niger Republic on Sunday. The win also confirmed Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite their success on the pitch, Softfootball understands that members of the squad are unhappy over outstanding financial entitlements, with players yet to receive camp allowances since preparations for the tournament began.

The situation has reportedly left the team disappointed, especially as payments relating to previous competitions, including the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, are also said to remain unresolved.
Rather than official incentives, the players have reportedly drawn motivation from donations made by well-meaning Nigerians, which have now reached approximately ₦20 million.
The squad is hopeful that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will address the issue and settle the outstanding bonuses and allowances as they prepare for the tournament’s final.
The Flying Eagles will face arch-rivals Ghana’s Black Satellites in Wednesday’s WAFU B U-20 Championship final as they seek to successfully defend their regional title.
