FIFA through their X account have officially released a June–July 2026 calendar graphic highlighting the major milestones for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, increasing excitement ahead of the historic 48-team tournament hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico, Softfootball reports.
The tournament will officially kick off on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City with hosts Mexico national football team facing South Africa national football team in the opening match and ceremony. FIFA’s calendar also outlines the group-stage schedule, knockout rounds, and the road to the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The announcement comes shortly after FIFA celebrated Mexico’s historic World Cup legacy, recognizing May 31, 1986, as the moment the country became the first nation ever to host the FIFA World Cup twice, having previously staged the competition in 1970.

The 2026 edition will also mark the first World Cup appearances as hosts for the Canada national soccer team and the United States men’s national soccer team.
In other news, Ghana national football team have officially released their 26-man squad, with head coach Carlos Queiroz finalizing preparations for the tournament.
