Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has insisted his side cannot be satisfied with earning a point after their thrilling 2-2 Premier League draw against Liverpool at Anfield, Softfootball reports.
United produced one of their best displays of the season to end a four-match losing streak, with Lisandro Martinez opening the scoring before Liverpool responded through Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah. Amad Diallo’s late equaliser ensured Ruben Amorim’s men left Anfield with a deserved point.
Despite the spirited performance, Fernandes admitted the result was not enough, stressing that Manchester United need victories rather than encouraging displays if they are to improve their disappointing league position.
The Portuguese midfielder expressed frustration that his team has struggled to replicate such performances consistently throughout the campaign. He questioned why United could compete with the league leaders at Anfield but fail to reach the same standard in other matches.
Fernandes also pointed to Harry Maguire’s late missed chance as evidence that United could have claimed all three points.
Looking ahead, the United skipper urged his teammates to carry the same intensity, commitment and determination into their upcoming FA Cup clash against Arsenal and the remainder of the season.
