Newcastle United have confirmed that Lewis Hall has signed a new contract with the club that will keep the left-back at St James’ Park until 2031.
The 22-year-old has agreed a two-year extension to his previous deal, rewarding his rapid development since joining Newcastle from Chelsea in 2023.
Softfootball reported earlier that Manchester United were very much interested in Hall, with the Red Devils monitoring the England international as they assessed options at left-back.
However, Newcastle have now moved to secure the defender’s long-term future, with Hall committing his future to the club he supported as a boy.
Speaking after signing the new agreement, Hall described the moment as a “really proud” one and highlighted the special connection he has with Newcastle and its supporters.

Hall said.
I know how much it means to them. To be able to bring joy to their faces, it’s a big thing for me. I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all.
One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United.
Hall has already made 106 appearances for Newcastle since completing his move from Chelsea three years ago, gradually developing from a raw young left-back into an increasingly important member of the squad.
Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle believes there is still significant room for improvement in Hall’s game and considers him an important part of the club’s long-term project.

He wants to learn every day and he wants to be better in every match.
Lewis covers ground in a way that few players can. He defends with maturity and intelligence, and his technical level means he can support the team higher up the pitch.
What excites me most is that I believe the best is still to come from Lewis.
Hall’s attacking contribution has already become one of his biggest strengths.
The defender has registered two assists this season and continues to provide Newcastle with an effective outlet from the left side.
His statistics from last season further demonstrate his ability to contribute going forward. Among full-backs who played at least 900 Premier League minutes, Hall led the way for high-speed runs and underlapping runs per game, while also ranking among the top three for completed dribbles per match.
There have also been occasions when Hall has demonstrated his defensive capabilities against elite opposition. On his day, the Newcastle defender has shown that he can limit dangerous attackers, including keeping Barcelona star Lamine Yamal quiet from open play in the Champions League.
There remains work to do defensively, but his overall development has made him an increasingly valuable player for Newcastle.
Hall will now look to continue that progress under Jaissle while also attempting to force his way back into the England squad after missing out on the World Cup.
With his new contract running until 2031, Newcastle have made it clear that Hall is considered an important part of their future, while Manchester United and any other interested clubs will now have to look elsewhere for a solution at left-back.
