Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has demonstrated strong confidence in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) by handing invitations to seven home‑based players for the upcoming Unity Cup in London.

The decision highlights his belief in the quality within the domestic league and his commitment to giving local talents a platform on the international stage.
For years, many NPFL players have gone unnoticed due to limited promotion, poor media coverage, inconsistent statistics and organisational challenges. As a result, fans often struggle to follow the league closely, making it difficult for standout performers to gain the recognition they deserve.
Earlier this month, Softfootball reported that Chelle personally travelled across the country, visiting multiple match venues to scout potential call‑ups. That effort has now paid off, with several top performers earning their chance.
The selected NPFL players are:
- Elias Ochobi (Rivers United)
- Obinna Igboke (Enugu Rangers)
- Chibueze Oputa (Enugu Rangers)
- Aderemi Adeoye (Ikorodu City)
- Ayobami Junior (Shooting Stars)
- Tosin Oyedokun (Ikorodu City)
- Michael Atata (Ikorodu City)
Their invitations are a testament to their consistency, dedication and impressive performances throughout the 2025/26 NPFL season. For these players, the Unity Cup represents a massive opportunity to showcase their abilities on a bigger stage, compete for long‑term places in the Super Eagles setup and make Nigeria proud.
