Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has challenged his players to contain Liverpool’s dangerous attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo ahead of their UEFA Champions League showdown.
Softfootball gathered that the French champions are preparing for a crucial knockout clash against Liverpool, with Enrique identifying the Reds’ pace and attacking quality as the biggest obstacle to his side’s ambitions of reaching the next round.
Speaking before the encounter, the Spanish tactician admitted Liverpool possess one of Europe’s most dangerous forward lines and stressed the importance of limiting their influence throughout the game. He said:
We have to stop players like Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo from playing their game. They are capable of hurting any team, so we must defend well as a unit and stay focused for the entire match.
Enrique also emphasised that PSG cannot rely solely on individual defending, insisting collective discipline and teamwork will be key to overcoming the Premier League side. He believes his players must remain compact both in and out of possession if they are to frustrate Liverpool’s attack.
While acknowledging the size of the challenge, Enrique expressed confidence that PSG have the quality to compete and deliver a positive result against the six-time European champions.
