Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo has admitted that adapting to the club’s style of play was a difficult process after his move from the Bundesliga.
The Japan international joined the Reds from VfB Stuttgart in 2023 and gradually established himself as an important member of the squad under former manager Jurgen Klopp and current boss Arne Slot.
Endo has now reflected on the challenge of adjusting to the intensity of English football and competing for a place in a Liverpool squad packed with quality players.
Softfootball understands that the midfielder believes the intensity of Liverpool’s daily sessions has played a major role in his development since arriving at Anfield.
Speaking on the Red Machine podcast, Endo explained that the high demands of training at Liverpool helped him become stronger and adapt to the Premier League.
The Premier League is very hard. It took me some time to adapt, but even in training the intensity is so high,
Endo said.
The 31-year-old added that Liverpool’s approach to training closely mirrors the demands of competitive matches, which has helped him adjust to the pace and physicality of English football.
