The Nigeria Football Federation and National Sports Commission are set to meet next week to make a final decision on the future of Super Eagles head coach Augustine Eguavoen, according to Completesports.com.
Eguavoen took over as caretaker coach in September after the NFF failed to appoint a substantive manager in time for AFCON qualifying, and has since guided the three-time African champions to qualification for the 2025 tournament.
Softfootball learned from a source within the NFF that opinions remain divided over whether he should remain in charge for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. According to the source, momentum appears to be building behind keeping the current setup in place:

The NFF still want to go ahead with the appointment of a foreign coach, but want to sort out the financial aspect before proceeding.
The feelers from the NSC is that they want the present technical crew led by Eguavoen to stay on.”
