Super Eagles B head coach Augustine Eguavoen has named a 30-man squad for Nigeria’s crucial African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying ties against Ghana.

Softfootball understands that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has intensified preparations for the qualifiers as the Home Eagles aim to secure a place at the 2025 CHAN tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Veteran Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali headlines the squad after an impressive domestic campaign that has seen him score eight league goals. Also included are Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, Rivers United defender Steven Mayo and Abia Warriors forward Sunday Megwo.

Enyimba goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena, Rangers midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye, Nasarawa United striker Anas Yusuf and Remo Stars wing-back Ismail Sadiq also earned invitations.

Victor Collins, who was recently called up to the senior Super Eagles squad for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, and Plateau United defender Adamu Abubakar are among the selected players.

The invited players are expected to report to the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne, Ogun State, on Wednesday, December 4, where preparations will begin ahead of the two-legged playoff.

Nigeria will travel to face Ghana in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 22 before hosting the return leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on December 28.

The Home Eagles will be hoping to end years of frustration against their West African rivals after Ghana denied Nigeria qualification for the CHAN finals in both 2009 and 2023.

Eguavoen’s squad features a blend of experienced NPFL campaigners and exciting emerging talents as Nigeria seeks a return to the continental competition reserved exclusively for players featuring in their domestic leagues.
