Former Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton has compared Manchester City youngster Savinho to Riyad Mahrez after the Brazilian’s impressive display against Leicester City, Softfootball reports.
Albrighton admitted he knew little about Savinho before his arrival in England but said the winger has quickly caught his attention with a series of encouraging performances.
The former Premier League winner praised Savinho’s technical ability, highlighting his excellent first touch, confidence on the ball and willingness to attack defenders from either side. He believes those qualities closely resemble the style that made Mahrez one of Manchester City’s most influential players.
Having played alongside Mahrez at Leicester City, Albrighton said the similarities between the two wide men are clear, particularly in their creativity and ability to influence games in one-on-one situations.
The ex-Foxes midfielder added that Savinho has been one of City’s brightest performers whenever he has featured and believes the Brazilian is beginning to justify the club’s decision to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.
Savinho has impressed with his direct attacking approach and continues to establish himself as an important option for Pep Guardiola’s side.
