According to reports from football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle, Mbappé reportedly criticized Prestianni’s attitude, stressing that no apology was offered despite the heated confrontation that led to a temporary interruption of play.

Kylian Mbappé: “Benfica are a top club, nothing against them… but Prestianni should NEVER play in UCL anymore”. “Did Prestianni apologize? Did you see his face? An apology? We’re not stupid, me and Vini… we saw what he said”.

The controversy intensified after Vinícius accused the Benfica player of repeated racist remarks following his goal celebration.

Fans worldwide reacted angrily, with many branding Prestianni a coward for allegedly covering his face during the exchange and urging UEFA to launch a thorough investigation. The incident has once again spotlighted football’s persistent struggle with racism at the highest level.

Vinícius reiterated that racists are weak and cowardly individuals, while also questioning why he was booked for celebrating. Prestianni has denied the accusations and attributed the incident to a misunderstanding, expressing regret over what he described as threats made toward him by Madrid players during the heated exchange.
