Barcelona finally snapped their four-game winless streak on the road with a pulsating 4–2 win over Celta Vigo at Balaídos on Sunday night, a result that breathes life back into their La Liga title push. With Real Madrid dropping points at Rayo Vallecano, Hansi Flick’s men have now closed the gap to just three points at the top.
Straight from the 3-3 Champions League draw against Club Brugge, the game started with chaos and never really settled. Barça went ahead early after Marcos Alonso’s handball gifted them a penalty, which Robert Lewandowski calmly tucked away. But the lead didn’t last long, Ronald Araújo’s mistimed step played Sergio Carreira onside, and he made no mistake to level for Celta.
Softfootball reports that it was a frantic first half, back and forth like a tennis match. Lewandowski popped up again, tapping in Marcus Rashford’s low cross to make it 2–1, only for Borja Iglesias to respond almost instantly with a brilliant first-time finish from the edge of the box.

Just when it looked like the half would end even, 18-year-old Lamine Yamal stole the spotlight, smashing home a loose ball in stoppage time to give Barça a 3–2 lead heading into the break. Barcelona posted Lamine’s celebration in a video via their official X account.

The second half was a different story. Barcelona slowed things down and took control, with Frenkie de Jong pulling strings from midfield. Celta barely touched the ball for long spells, Barça hogged possession around 67 percent and kept their opponents pinned back. The pressure finally paid off when Lewandowski completed his hat-trick, rising perfectly to nod in Rashford’s corner for 4–2.
A late red card for De Jong after a second yellow threatened to complicate things, but Flick’s side stayed organised and saw out the game comfortably.
It wasn’t just the result, it was the statement. After a few shaky weeks away from home, Barcelona looked sharp, confident, and clinical again. A timely reminder that their title challenge is still very much alive heading into the international break.
