Dominik Livaković is set to undergo his medical as a new Barcelona player tomorrow, with the Croatian goalkeeper now closing in on his move from Fenerbahçe. The medical represents the next major step before the transfer can be officially completed.
Softfootball reported that Livaković will sign a contract with Barcelona until June 2030, as the Catalan giants have accelerated their plans to bring the experienced goalkeeper to the club. The agreement with Fenerbahçe is understood to be worth €2 million plus €2 million in potential add-ons.
The 31-year-old arrives with plenty of experience at the highest level, having spent several successful seasons with Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Fenerbahçe in 2023. He has also established himself as Croatia’s first-choice goalkeeper and was one of the standout performers during the country’s run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals.
Barcelona had initially planned for Livaković to join the club next summer, with the possibility of signing him now and sending him back to Dinamo Zagreb on loan. However, the club have changed their plans and are now preparing to integrate him immediately into Hansi Flick’s squad.
Livaković is expected to provide valuable competition for Joan García, while Wojciech Szczęsny could move into a third-choice role. His experience and ability to perform under pressure should give Flick another reliable option between the posts.
The goalkeeper is expected to arrive in Barcelona today before completing his medical tomorrow, after which the final formalities of the transfer can be completed.
Meanwhile, Livaković will be returning to familiar ground in Zagreb after his recent Dinamo loan spell, but his next chapter is now set to begin in Barcelona.
