Manchester United official X handle shared a post after the pulsating match that ended in a 2-2.

The away side took the lead through former Brentford forward, Bryan Mbeumo as he headed home Amad Diallo’s precise right-wing cross to give the Red Devils the lead over Spurs, coached by his former manager, Thomas Frank. It was his fifth goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the premier league, one of his favourite opponents.

United held on for a first half lead but in the second half the home side came out stronger. Red Devils new goalkeeper, Senne Lammens made excellent saves to deny Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven  but substitute, Mathys Tel got himself freed from the tight grip of De Ligt and powered a right foot shot past Lammens in goal.

The game was heading for a 1-1 draw but Brazilian striker Richarlison flicked Wilson Odobert’s long-range shot past Lammens to give Spurs a very late 2-1 lead. For Ruben Amorim it felt like the Europa League final all over again where Tottenham defeated Manchester United 1-0.

Matthijs de Ligt saved the day for Manchester United as he was unmarked at the back post where he headed home a Bruno Fernandez corner to make it 2-2 in the final minutes of the seven minutes extra-time. The Red Devils eventually finished the game with 10-men after Benjamin Sesko got injured and Amorim had used all five substitutes.
