The former Chelsea midfielder watched from the stands last week as Lewandowski missed a penalty in Barcelona’s humiliating 4-1 defeat to Sevilla just before the international break.

Writing on the top via his official X handle, Fabrizio Romano informed that Deco is urging Barcelona to not obsess about the situation of a striker. He wrote:
Barça director Deco: “There’s no need to be obsessed with signing a new striker”.
“Maybe it’s possible to play without a traditional striker. Ferran can play as a number 9… PSG won the Champions League without a main striker”, told MD.
Lewandowski is one of the finest strikers in Europe for the last decade but age is no longer on his side as he is currently 37-year-old and the Poland striker is in his fourth season with Barcelona and the Catalan club are looking for replacements.
Hansi Flick’s team is currently linked to Manchester City’s goal-machine Erling Haaland and Borussia Dortmund’s poacher Serhou Guirassy. There has also been mention of Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane who is viewed currently as the best striker in the world.
However, former Manchester City winger Ferran Torres has been starting as a center forward under Flick while Lewandowski is benched for certain matches. This could go on for the rest of the rest after the comments from Deco, who cited the example of hos Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) who the Ligue 1 and Champions League last season.
Following their defeat last week to Sevilla, Barcelona have now dropped to second position in the Spanish league with 19 points after eight matches, two points adrift bitter rivals Real Madrid.
