Manchester City have secured the future of Nico O’Reilly, with the 20-year-old penning a new five-year contract that includes an option to extend until 2030, Softfootball can report.
The Mancunian talent, who joined City’s academy at the age of eight, has been rewarded for his impressive rise to the first team, particularly after excelling in an unexpected role at left-back. Nico’s recent game for was Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield in the FA cup third round.
According to Fabrizio Romano, he wrote on his official X handle:

Despite interest from Chelsea and other clubs earlier this year, City have acted swiftly to secure O’Reilly’s long-term commitment.
Meanwhile, Softfootball can gather that the recent contract extension was seen to keep the youngster from leaving the club. It was reported by Fabrizio last August that Nico was set to join Leverkusen before the deal collapsed.

This campaign, he has started the club’s last four matches, with his standout performance coming in a resilient defensive display against Arsenal in the 1-1 draw at Emirates Stadium.
Originally an attacking midfielder, O’Reilly was handed his senior debut in the Community Shield last year and has since flourished in his adapted position. Last season, he made 21 appearances across competitions, scoring five goals, three of which came during City’s run to the FA Cup final.
