Manchester City are reportedly closing in on an agreement for a new deal with Savinho, aiming to secure the Brazilian talent’s future at the club.
Softfootball understands that the 21-year-old’s current deal runs up to 2029. The winger missed City’s first three games of the season through injury but has made four appearances and scored his first goal of the campaign in a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Huddersfield Town on Wednesday.
Savinho made 48 appearances for City last season across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing 13 assists. He joined the club in a €40m from French side Troyes, after spending the 2023-24 season on loan at La Liga team Girona, where he recorded 11 goals and 10 assists, helping the club to a top-four finish and the club’s first ever Champions League berth.

Softfootball reported in early September that Tottenham approached City over a move for Savinho during the summer transfer window as the Brazilian star is a player Thomas Frank is a big fan of, but City’s initial stance was that they did not want to sell and communicated that in their response to Spurs’ enquiry, and subsequently regarded the matter as closed.
The 21-year-old was believed to be open to the move at the time as it would guarantee him minutes throughout the 2025/26 season, which would aid his chances of making it into the Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, Savinho now looks set to commit his long-term future to City and sign a new deal. He tweeted:
EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City are closing in on agreement over new deal for Savinho. Contract talks at advanced, final stages with Brazilian winger to stay at #MCFC for long term. Follows City decision to turn down two bids from Tottenham.
The 21-year-old came through the academy at Atletico Mineiro in his native Brazil, making his first team debut as a 16-year-old in August 2020. He signed for Troyes in 2022 and had a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven in the 2022-23 season. Savinho has been capped 13 times by Brazil, scoring once.
Savinho scored in City’s 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield town on Wednesday September but is yet to start a Premier League game.
The new deal will reportedly keep the Brazilian at Man City until 2031, and although it has not been confirmed, it will very likely see Savinho receive a pay rise on his current £50k-per-week salary.
It is clear that the Brazilian is a player the Manchester City are planning their future around, given how hard they have fought to keep him over the last few weeks.
