Manchester City are set to usher in a new era after reaching an agreement to appoint Enzo Maresca as the club’s next manager following Pep Guardiola’s departure at the end of the season.
Reports in May 2026 indicated that Maresca had signed a three-year contract running until June 2029, with Manchester City identifying him as the ideal candidate to lead the next phase of the club’s project.
According to reports reaching Softfootball, City have agreed a financial settlement worth €20 million (£17.2m) with Chelsea, clearing the way for Maresca to return to the Etihad Stadium.

The Italian previously served as Guardiola’s assistant during Manchester City’s historic 2022/23 treble-winning campaign before leaving to manage Leicester City, where he guided the Foxes back to the Premier League.
Maresca later took charge of Chelsea and is now poised to succeed Guardiola after the Spaniard brought his remarkable 10-year spell at Manchester City to an end. The former City assistant is expected to begin a new chapter at the club with a long-term vision focused on building on Guardiola’s legacy.
