Paul Pogba has been named in Monaco’s Champions League squad for the 2025/26 season, ending his long spell out of European football. The French midfielder only joined the club in July on a free after leaving Juventus.

Softfootball understands that Pogba is yet to make his first appearance in red and white, but that has not deterred the club from including him. The 32-year-old hasn’t played a competitive game since September 2023 because of his 18-month doping ban.

Monaco confirmed his registration, with the hope he can return to action in October. That means Pogba is unlikely to feature in the first two group games, against Club Brugge on September 18 and Manchester City on October 1.

Football expert Fabrizio Romano revealed the update via his official X account. as he tweeted:

Paul Pogba has been included in AS Monaco squad for Champions League.

He’s waiting for debut as new Monaco player after joining the club in July and working on his best form.

Manager Adi Hütter has eased Pogba into training as the midfielder works on fitness. The plan is to have him available later in the group stage when Monaco face Tottenham, Real Madrid and his old side, Juventus.

Pogba isn’t the only high-profile inclusion. Ansu Fati, who came on loan from Barcelona, has also been added despite not yet making his debut. He should be ready just after the international break.

On the flip side, Krépin Diatta and Paris Brunner both miss out on the 23-man list. For Pogba, this is the first step in a comeback Monaco believe can pay off in the months ahead.
