New Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has broken his silence following his blockbuster move to Anfield after a prolonged transfer saga. The star player says he has joined Arne Slot team to win trophies and create history after his British record £125m move from Newcastle United.
After three years on Tyneside, Isak arrives on Merseyside as the most expensive player of all time in British football and the 25-year-old, who is now set to link up with his national colleagues for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, says he can’t wait to get started with the Premier League champions.

The Swedish international leaves Newcastle on bad terms having forced through a move to the Reds this summer, but is not dwelling on the past. When asked what drew him to Liverpool, he told the Reds official club website:
“It’s a mixture of what the club is building, but what they’re building on top of what the club already is. The history of the club.
“Me getting the chance to be a part of this, I want to create history. I want to win trophies. That’s ultimately the biggest motivation for me and I feel like this is the perfect place for me to grow even further and to take my game to the next level and help the team as well.
“I feel like this is the next step for me in my career. I’m super-happy that I’ve been given this chance and I’m very motivated to do something well with it,”
“I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well.
“I want to win everything. Yeah, as simple as that.”
Isak initially joined Newcastle from LaLiga side Real Sociedad for a then club record £63m in summer 2022, having previously played for Borussia Dortmund and AIK.

He made 109 appearances across all competitions in total for the club, scoring 62 goals including 27 last season. Isak also has 16 goals in 52 senior international caps for Sweden.
The 25-year-old is the most high profile arrival of a stunning summer transfer window on Merseyside that has seen Liverpool spend more than £400m on bolstering Arne Slot’s squad that won the Premier League title last season.
He will compete for place up front with fellow new signing Hugo Ekitike, who has scored three times in four games since joining from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69m in July.
