Ipswich Town have reportedly sent a formal bid to sign Uruguayan defender, Sebastián Cacere from Club América following Omari Hutchinson departure from Portman Road this summer.
Softfootball understood that Ipswich have already bolstered their options at centre-back this summer, with the signing of Cedric Kipre leaving Kieran McKenna relatively well-stocked, given that the manager already has the likes of Dara O’Shea and Jacob Greaves on the books.

However, head coach, Kieran McKenna has also admitted that his squad is not yet at the standard he would like for a side with promotion ambitions, and with Omari Hutchinson joining Nottingham Forest in a £37.5m deal.
The Tractor Boys will need to bolster their options in attacking areas, but the huge transfer fee should also allow them to also strengthen their squad in different areas.
As such, it could make sense to bring in another new option at centre-back, and McKenna’s side have now joined the race for a new target.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X handle, Ipswich Town have submitted a formal offer to Club América for defender Sebastián Cáceres, while no agreement has been reached, negotiations remain ongoing after Club previously turned down a bid from Spartak Moscow.
His post reads:
“Understand Ipswich Town have sent a formal bid to Club América for Sebastian Caceres.
No agreement yet but talks ongoing after bid from Spartak Moscow was rejected.”
The 26-year-old centre-back has performed very well from a defensive point of view over the course of the past year, outperforming the vast majority of his positional peers in tackles and interceptions.
It could be considered a real coup if Ipswich were able to lure Sebastian Caceres to Portman Road, given that he is very well established at international level, having amassed 20 caps for his national side.
In an earlier post, Softfootball reported that Crystal Palace head coach, Oliver Glasner has confirmed Eberechi Eze move to Arsenal after claiming the England attacker pulled out of their Conference League playoff victory over Fredrikstad on Thursday.
