AS Roma has submitted £20m bid for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho

AS Roma has formally entered the race to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United and has submitted a bid of £20 million for the winger. The Italian club has made Sancho their top target as they look to strengthen their front attack.

Sancho has struggled to live up to his expectations at Old Trafford since joining Manchester United in 2021. He had previously been linked to a move, as sources from Softfootball indicated that Borussia Dortmund was interested in bringing him back for a third stint, either permanently or on loan.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle confirmed the development as he stated:

“AS Roma submit official bid to Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho.

“Permanent move for £20m offered while club’s also open to loan with buy clause.

“Decision up to Manchester United and Sancho’s camp.

“AS Roma, in contact with both Sancho and Bailey.”

Jordan Sancho joined Manchester United from Dortmund for a fee of £73 million IN 2021. His career took a turn under club manager Erik ten Hag’s tenure which led to a loan at Chelsea.

At Chelsea, Sancho made 41 appearances, scored 5 goals, helped the club win the UEFA Conference league and also secure a spot in UEFA Champions League. Despite Sancho’s efforts, Chelsea didn’t make the transfer permanent, instead they paid £5 million to United.

For AS Roma, the attraction is clear. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini is interested in Sancho’s pace, creativity and skills. Roma’s willingness to consider different deal structures for Jadon Sancho; from a permanent buy deal to a loan deal, shows how serious they are.

With talks ongoing, a deal for Sancho could give him a fresh start, also allowing Manchester United to recover some funds to use on other players before the transfer window shuts.
