Manchester City dismisses bid for Monaco starlet

Manchester City have dismissed speculation linking them with a move for French and Monaco starlet Maghnes Akliouche, with no talks currently taking place.

Softfootball understands that City’s focus remains fixed on a clear transfer plan for Rodrygo should Savinho complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur. Pep Guardiola’s side intends to make an effort to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo.

Akliouche is a fast-rising star in Europe, registered over 70 appearances with more than 12 goals since joining Monaco in 2021, but doesn’t look like a priority for Guardiola’s side.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano this morning via his official X handle, City are fixed on getting Rodrygo as soon as Savinho moves away from the club, hence denying any bid for Akilouche.

Fabrizio wrote:

“Manchester City play down reports on Maghnes Akliouche or similar options as no talks are taking place.

“Plan remains clear: if Savinho joins Spurs, Man City want to try for Rodrygo.

“But still no agreement for Savinho to Spurs as of now, first bid far from City valuation.”

City are yet to reach any agreement with Spurs for Savinho, with Tottenham’s opening proposal reportedly well below the Premier League champions’ valuation. Until that deal progresses, no formal move for Rodrygo is expected.

Guardiola is a long-time admirer of the Brazilian forward, viewing him as an ideal fit for his fluid attacking system. However, for now, the reigning champions’ plans hinge on developments in the Savinho negotiations.
