We don’t need Champions League to prove ourselves – Amorim makes bold claim on Man United’s rise

Manchester United boss, Ruben Amorim has reaffirmed his belief that the Red Devils are on the path to success, standing by his promise to fans at Old Trafford that good days are coming following the club’s strong response to last season’s UEFA Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Amorim is confident that Man United are better in every detail as a club now than the way they were at the end of last season.

The United boss discussed cultural change and hopes for the future of the squad in his first major sit-down interview of pre-season conducted in Chicago where the Reds have been based for the past week.

According statement seen on Manchester United official website, Amorim was reminded of his quote to Red Devils fans at Old Trafford at the end of last season when the squad responded well to Europa League final defeat by beating Aston Villa at home.

He told supporters then that good days are coming. When asked whether he feels more confident now in that claim.

He said:

“Yes, we will have bad days and good days. But for everything that I said to you [about] the organization of the club, the idea of bringing players with a certain character, that is something that is not about the coach, it’s the club overall.

“So this club, even without Champions League and Europa League, we have revenues from different types and we have all the tools to return to the top. So I’m not worried about that [good days coming]. I’m just worried of winning games and to be part of that as long as I can,”.

Ruben Amorim believes that Man United have undergone some significant cultural changes during his time at the club, including this pre-season.

This is Amorim’s first pre-season as the Man United boss, which means he has more time to prepare the team for the campaign in the way he sees best.

So far, the results are encouraging, as United have not lost a single game this pre-season, winning the last match against Bournemouth 4-1 in Chicago, maintaining their perfect record in the Premier League summer series.
