Manchester United continue to search for a new left-back, with the position expected to become their next priority once the club completes the deal for Carlos Baleba.

Softfootball can confirm that United have held calls with Alejandro Balde’s representatives in recent days to understand whether a potential move away from Barcelona could be possible and what conditions would be required.

However, Balde is currently happy at Barcelona and there is no indication at this stage that he is pushing to leave the Catalan club.

United are nevertheless exploring the situation as they assess options to strengthen the left side of their defence.

The development comes as Manchester United prepare to resume negotiations with Brighton over Carlos Baleba.

The Red Devils have made significant progress in talks for the 22-year-old Cameroon international and there is growing confidence that an agreement could eventually be reached.

Once the Baleba operation is resolved, United are expected to turn their attention towards strengthening at left-back, with Balde among the players whose situation they are monitoring.
