Official: Roony Bardghji Joins FC Barcelona on Four-Year Deal Until 2029

Swedish winger Roony Bardghji has officially signed for FC Barcelona on a deal that runs until June 30, 2029. The 18-year-old rejected offers from RCD Mallorca and FC Porto to fulfill his long-standing dream of playing for the Catalan giants.

Born in Kuwait and raised in Sweden, Bardghji had a tough 2023/24 campaign after suffering a cruciate ligament injury that limited him to just six appearances for FC Copenhagen. Despite that setback, Barcelona’s hierarchy holds him in high regard, seeing him as a high-upside talent for the future.

Bardghji made a total of 84 appearances for Copenhagen, scoring 15 goals and providing one assist, and was instrumental in helping the club win three Danish Superliga titles and two Danish Cups.

In an official statement, the club confirmed the signing:

“FC Barcelona and FC Copenhagen have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Roony Bardghji. The winger is to sign a contract with the club for four seasons until 30 June 2029.”

“As a wide player, Bardghji is known for his one-on-one skills, his ability to dribble past opponents, and his effectiveness in front of goal. His presence on the right wing can, therefore, make the difference and provide more dynamism.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bardghji was signed for just €2 million, with Copenhagen retaining a sell-on clause as part of the agreement. Barcelona reached a deal with Copenhagen last month, and the winger is now in Catalonia, where he’s put pen to paper.

The youngster completed his medicals on Friday, with SPORT reporting that Bardghji also spoke to the media, expressing joy and gratitude over his move to Camp Nou.

Though his stock dipped following his knee injury, the teenager will split time between Barcelona’s first team and Barça Atlètic for now. He’s expected to link up with the senior squad for preseason, including the club’s Asian tour with matches in South Korea and Japan.

Meanwhile, Softfootball reported earlier that Barcelona reignites interest in Marcus Rashford amid tough situations at United. Barcelona are understood to prefer an initial loan, but United have made it clear they will only sanction a permanent deal.

Capable of playing on both wings, Bardghji offers Barcelona much-needed depth especially on the left flank. He could emerge as a surprise candidate to claim that role or serve as a valuable backup to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha on the right.
