Frankfurt ready to depart with striker, Ekitike if €100m is tabled

Eintracht Frankfurt are anticipating offers for €100m-rated Hugo Ekitike, amid interest from a number of Premier League clubs this month. Softfootball understands that the clubs are only preparing for any eventuality and are lining up possible replacements for the French striker.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Frankfurt are preparing to field offers from English clubs ahead of the new season. Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester United are all believed to be admirers of the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in the striker has likely cooled following their £60m ($81m) deal for Joao Pedro who they got from Brighton and Hove Albion. Pedro scored two goals in his debut against Fluminense in the FIFA Club world Cup semifinals.

Frankfurt believes their €100m (£86m/$117m) price tag may require chasing clubs to shift players off of their balance sheets before they can mount a serious test of Frankfurt’s resolve.

Hugo enjoyed a fine season in 2024-25. The 23-year-old notched 22 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last term, coming to the fore after Frankfurt sold Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in January.

Manchester United have been in search of a striker as they have been linked with many this window while Newcastle’s renewed interest is coming after Callum Wilson departed the club. Softfootball, who followed the news reported earlier that Liverpool were set to begin negotiation with Frankfurt.

Liverpool are reportedly gearing up to begin initial talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over a potential move for striker Hugo Ekitike although Nunez would need to leave to make room for Ekitike at Anfield

Intermediaries have reportedly indicated to Frankfurt that Liverpool are now ready to begin talks, giving the Bundesliga side confidence that they could receive their full £86 million valuation before the transfer window closes.
