Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique believes his side deserved a better outcome despite suffering a narrow defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.

Softfootball understands that the French champions dominated large spells of the contest and created numerous scoring opportunities but were unable to convert their chances before Liverpool struck the decisive goal.

Reflecting on the performance, Enrique praised his players’ display and insisted the result did not accurately reflect the balance of the match, saying:

We were the better team. We created more chances, controlled large parts of the game and deserved a different result, but that’s football at this level.

The Spaniard acknowledged Liverpool’s clinical finishing but maintained that PSG’s performance should give his players confidence ahead of the second leg.

With qualification still within reach, Enrique has challenged his squad to reproduce the same intensity when they travel to Anfield, believing they can still overturn the deficit and book a place in the quarter-finals.
