Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has expressed his hope of facing Liverpool again in this season’s UEFA Champions League. The Belgian shot-stopper believes another clash with the Premier League leaders would be an exciting prospect, especially after their recent meeting in the league phase.
Softfootball reports that Madrid must first overcome Manchester City in the play-offs to reach the round of 16. Courtois acknowledged Liverpool’s strong form under Arne Slot and their historic victory at Anfield earlier this campaign.
He emphasized that while the Reds are performing exceptionally well, he remains confident in Real Madrid’s ability to secure a positive result. Should the two European giants meet again in the knockout stages, he is eager for the challenge.
The goalkeeper explained his wish by stating:
They’re also doing well this season, so hopefully we will meet them again and win because they’re doing well this season.
This comment reflects both respect for Liverpool’s current level and belief in his own team’s capacity.
