Bologna have officially completed the signing of Argentine midfielder Mikel Amondarain from Estudiantes La Plata in a deal worth €10 million plus performance-related add-ons.
Amondarain arrives in Italy after emerging as one of Argentina’s most promising young midfielders. Standing at 1.85 metres, the versatile central midfielder is capable of operating in both defensive and box-to-box roles, combining composure in possession with strong defensive instincts.
Bologna moved decisively to secure his signature despite competition from clubs including Real Betis and Nottingham Forest, viewing him as a long-term reinforcement for their midfield.
The signing also comes at a time when Bologna continue to face uncertainty over the future of striker Santi Castro. Softfootball recently reported that AS Roma are advancing toward the final stages of negotiations for the Argentine forward after submitting an offer worth €30 million plus a further €5 million in add-ons. Discussions between the clubs remain ongoing as Roma seek to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini’s attacking options.
While speculation continues over Castro’s future, Bologna have ensured they have already added one of Argentina’s brightest midfield prospects, reinforcing their squad with a player expected to play an important role in the club’s long-term project.
