Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella is delighted to have opened his UEFA Champions League account after helping the Bundesliga champions secure a comfortable 2-0 victory over Sparta Prague.
The Nigeria international was on target at the BayArena on Wednesday night as Leverkusen rounded off their Champions League league-phase campaign with an impressive win.
For Tella, the goal was a significant personal milestone, having made six appearances in the competition for Xabi Alonso’s side this season.
The versatile winger has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent years. Just two years ago, he was playing in the Sky Bet Championship before making the move to the Premier League and eventually joining Leverkusen.

Tella took to social media after the match to celebrate the memorable moment, sharing a picture and writing:
Dreams come true.
His goal also contributed to a result that confirmed Leverkusen’s place in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian will now hope to build on the performance and play an even bigger role for the German champions as they continue their European campaign.
